Meet Shane

I'm Shane, the creator of Waggy Tail Places. Based in New Zealand, I built this site out of frustration with trying to find genuinely dog friendly spots — not just places that technically allow dogs, but places where your dog is actually welcome.

As a dog owner, I know how much planning goes into a day out with your dog. Waggy Tail Places is my attempt to make that easier — a straightforward, no-fuss directory you can actually rely on.

I research and update listings regularly. If you know a great spot that isn't listed, or spot something that's out of date, please use the contact page — every tip helps.

Our mission

Dogs make every outing better. But finding places that genuinely welcome them — with off-leash areas, water access, and dog friendly seating — takes more research than it should. Waggy Tail Places pulls that information together in one place, organised by location and type, so you can spend less time searching and more time exploring with your dog.
